They Want More Money!
by Atlantis inthose wanting a copy of this file.
https://docdro.id/fllorzffile example:4. circuit overseer assistance arrangement: in harmony with the announcement to the congregation, please arrange for a resolution to be put to the congregation, authorising payment from congregation funds equivalent to £4.50/€5.00 per congregation publisher for the 2019 service year.
if the body of elders believes the suggested amount would impose a hardship on the congregation, the resolved amount can be adjusted accordingly.. .

I'm just so sad and now I'm mad
by KimD ini'm just so sad and i'm so angry at myself for believing and living a lie.
i hurt so many people in my family by becoming a jw....why didn't i listen to my sweet grandfather when he cried and begged me not to become a jw...i truly thought it was the truth...my grandfather cried...he was so hurt....my bible study teacher told me that satan would test me and my grandfather's pleas were my first test...he's gone now...years before i left the religion....i so wish that i could tell him that i am sorry and how very much i loved him...

I do not know you, or your grandfather, but I am absolutely sure he would give you a huge hug, and all would be forgotten before you ever finished telling him. Family (except jw) and true friends, forgive and forget. The older we get the more we learn from life experience and mistakes. One of the most difficult things for a parent or grandparent to do, is to watch our kids make those mistakes, when we can so clearly see them. But the thing about life experience is, we understand. We know what it's like to be young and make poor choices. So we love and forgive, happy to see you come around. Grateful that you have the rest of your life to live. Now, dont let the cult keep its grasp on you by wallowing in your sadness and anger. Go live your life, happy and free!

3rdgen and Nathan's arguments and points are spot on and exactly what my response to you would be. If I were you, I would go with what they said.

...simon, are you speculating? 😮😀😆
There is any number of plausible explanations for his purchase. But, it all really boils down to 2 things;
1. How it looks
2. How the money is spent
If it can be perceived as bad, it can bring reproach on Gods name and a Christian would want to refrain from participating in anything of the sort. This is the council often found in publication, as well as drilled into every witness, from the platform.
When witness children are being shaken down for their ice cream money, do not even the GB have a responsibility to lead by example, regardless if it's their personal pocket money, or donated funds?
And that is why it's hypocrisy

Let's Talk Horror Movies
by LoveUniHateExams inhorror is easily my favourite genre of movie so i just thought i'd start a thread on it.. horror can be done badly and there are plenty of crap horror movies, no doubt about that.
but horror can also be done very well, too - often on a low budget.. plus, there are quite a lot of subgenres - slasher, supernatural, monster movies, body horror, psychological horror, zombie, vampire, etc.. so, do you like horror?.
what's your favourite subgenre?.

Yes, the walking dead's true horror is what humans can do to each other, and how easily we can devolve. I quit watching it a few seasons ago as it started becoming repetitive and overly hoaky to me. But I really enjoyed the first few seasons.

It doesn’t make Sense
by HappyBlessedFree inso my husband and i had a long conversation last night about why i no longer believe.
this is our 10th conversation about all the same things which we have been talking about for the last four months.. he says “you have let yourself be deceived”.
i try my best to show him my sincerity in my motives.

Also, may I ask, if he were to leave, what does he stand to lose? Friends? Family? This is a huge deal to some, and what keeps them in cognitive dissonance, being a jw apologist, while not adhering to the rigors and activities of actually being a jw.

I think spiral is right. He's playing on the fence. He most likely thinks that Jehovah can read his heart, and if he still believes the jw doctrine in his heart, he'll get a pass come judgment day. But he really doesn't want to go, and for that he's got you to hide behind.
Imo, best thing to do is give him time. Point out the blatant things when they come along. Like child abuse cover up. Or people losing their lives for refusing blood. Or any number of other things that come up, as they will do with the passage of time. Eventually it will all start to sink in and he'll come around.
It's an extremely difficult thing for some us to see, or allow ourselves to see, because we were brainwashed into ignoring problems, into excusing any little doubt or issue, as satan trying to creep in and separate us from Jehovah. So we learn early on to ignore potential problems and be dismissive. There's an answer for everything, but we're bad if we question. Be patient. The answers will come at the right time. Jehovahs time table, not yours, and of course the GB will be the first to know, and they alone will decide when to share it with the sheeple. Put the blinders back on and just go with it, we have love amongst ourselves...

Respectfully, no, no you are not right. You are being black and white. This has shades of grey all over it.

Right, but if you're gonna speculate how far he drove to buy it, you have to consider that it was, for him, 13 miles from home. 13. That's not far at all (see my previous comment where I shared the Google maps image). And could be in route to somewhere else he went that morning. Also, the other liquor store could've been out of his brand, or not have as many bottles as he wanted to purchase. I dont think the location, or the distance he drove, to be as scandalous as it's been suggested here.
